What is the difference between a "broker" and an "agent" and what are the advantages of dealing with a broker?

Broker

A real estate broker is the highest form of licensure issued by the Maryland Real Estate Commission. A broker must take 180 hours of broker-specific classes, pass an exam with both state and national sections, and have actively worked as a real estate salesperson for 36 of the previous 48 months. Every "brokerage house" (i.e. real estate branch) has only one "broker of record". When you deal directly with the broker, you are dealing directly with the boss. This is the case at Buckingham Realty, Inc.

Agent

All agents (i.e. salespersons) must be licensed and affiliated under a broker or "brokerage house". At Buckingham Realty, Inc. clients will be working directly with the broker.
